Why can't I purchase gifts directly from your website? When we decided to change our focus to the gift market in the fall of 2017, we had many conversations about this. In fact, the Hexcode Girls, Chrissy and Marisa, were extremely helpful in clarifying our thoughts on this. We strongly considered giving clients the ability to do this, but the logistics of listing all the possible customization options was truly impossible. Because customization ranges from simple to complex, utilizing one medium or a combination of many, encompassing a large variety of shapes and sizes, there was just no way to simplify the options and break it down into pricing. The only way we could do this would be to box clients into choosing from only a few options, and we just weren't willing to compromise on having an unlimited selection - that really defeats the purpose of customization.
However, as a consumer, we hate going to a website and falling in love with something, only to find out that it's way out of our budget when we were quoted a price.
So, we tried to come up with a solution that would allow us to offer unlimited options, but not leave clients in the dark about pricing. Our solution was to offer base pricing. This way you get a sense of the general price, and then can control how simple or extravagant you want the customization to be. So in the strongest sense, you determine the final price of any gift.
What if I don't see the gift I'm looking for on your website? If you have ever designed a website, catalog or brochure, you know how time consuming the process can be. We are always on the lookout for beautiful additions to our product line and don't always have the time to add each one to the site immediately. In addition, even if we don't currently carry an item you are looking for, we are happy to scour our current resources or find new ones to help you find the perfect gift. An original custom gift is created from scratch, so the design may not even be developed until we hear what you have in mind. Always feel free to contact us with inquiries! How do I get my completed order from you? If your order is a personal gift, you can call or text Marj at (316) 619-2687 to arrange a scheduled pick-up time sometime in the hours of Monday-Friday, 8:00am - 6:00pm.
If your order is a corporate gift, you have two options. You can arrange a pick-up time as described above, or you can request a delivery Monday-Friday between 8:00am-6:00pm. The cost of delivery is $8.00 in the Wichita-metro area. If your order is outside of the Wichita-metro area, the cost will be quoted on an individual basis. For orders over $500, we offer free delivery to show our appreciation of your business.
Do you deliver? For corporate clients we offer a delivery service in the Wichita-metro area. The cost is $8.00. For companies located outside the area, we will quote a delivery fee based on distance and access. In appreciation for corporate orders over $500, we offer free delivery.
How long does it take to complete my gift order? Timing can be affected by inventory, complexity of gift and time of year, but in general, your gift will be ready in 5-10 business days of proof approval.
Where did you come up with the name Evergreen Engraving? We were raised in the foothills of Colorado and both love the mountains. We both reside in a subdivision called Evergreen. We are half Irish, so our hope is that our "tills will be evergreen"! And finally, we hope that our custom gifts will always be "evergreen" to the recipients. For a lot of reasons - the name just fit!
How are you able to print full color on glass cutting boards, ceramic tiles, etc.? We use a process called sublimation printing that utilizes a specialized printer, paper, ink and coated substrates. When placed in a heat press, the ink turns to gas, which permanently adheres to the coated substrate.
How do you customize on fabric, nylon or plastic? We can often utilize vinyl to add monograms, names and logos to substrates that don't engrave well, or where the vinyl application is a better fit.
Is there a minimum purchase amount or quantity? No. We can do a single gift or hundreds! This is one of the many benefits of in-house customization and manufacturing.
Can I ship my gift? You can! We withhold invoicing you the shipping costs until the item is shipped and then charge you the exact shipping fee, with no up charges. We work on the honor system in this respect and trust you to be responsible in paying shipping fees.
What is your return policy? Unless the item is damaged in some way upon delivery, we do not accept returns. Once an item has been personalized or customized, there is no way to return it to our inventory. This is why we are so diligent in working on getting proof approval prior to customizing any gift item. If the item is damaged upon delivery, we will replace it at no cost to you with an exact exchange for the original item, or as close to the original as we can replicate.
Can you engrave in different colors? The technical answer here is NO. Glass will appear frosted; no color can be added. Metal will engrave black (if it's stainless steel) or silver (it engraves away the paint/powder-coating to reveal the stainless steel underneath); no color can be added.
Wood will engrave some shade of brown, which can vary depending on the wood, settings used on the laser, and variations within the wood piece itself. Because the laser etches into the wood, color in the form of paint can be added after the engraving. Depending on the size and complexity of the graphic, color-filling can be labor and time intensive and can add to the cost. The results can add a stunning touch to any piece and are often easily worth the effort and extra cost.
Acrylic - and there are many different types - also often results in an etching into the material that can be color-filled.
So the long answer is that wood can be color-filled. It can also be painted first, and then engraved after. Wood does not equate to lack of color. And we are huge fans of the simple beauty of using a variety of stains in any given piece to add contrast and visual interest.
Acrylic by nature comes in a huge variety of colors, so you could combine these with color-filling and include about any color in the spectrum!
Can you do rush jobs? If possible, we will accommodate rush orders. Many factors will be taken into consideration - complexity of job, current workload, history of client business, proof approval, in-house inventory, and so on. Rush orders needed in 72 hours or less will be subject to rush fee of $50.00.
What is powder coating? Powder coating is a way to add color to metal. It has many industrial applications, but is often used to add color to Yeti-style tumblers, bullet bottle openers and lighters. A dry powder is sprayed onto metal to coat the surface, and then baked in an oven. During the baking process the powder cures and fuses to the metal, creating a durable decorative finish. A laser engraver will burn away the coating to reveal the metal underneath, most often stainless steel or aluminum. Evergreen Engraving does not provide powder coating, but can certainly engrave powder coated items.
How do I know if I will like the design you create? Each customization comes with a complimentary artwork proof. You can make small changes to the proof for no extra fee. Complicated or multiple design changes may incur artwork fees, generally ranging from $7-$35. We want you to be proud of the gifts you are giving and ensure the quality and uniqueness of your gift are memorable.
What is the process of getting a custom gift? The gifting process generally starts with an email or phone call inquiring about a gift from our website or a specific occasion. Marj will then contact you to get more detailed information about your event or occasion, your budget, and what your initial interest is. After speaking with you, Marj and Kari will provide you with a detailed email proposal or a visit from the Traveling Showroom. Once you have selected your favorite gift option, Marj and Kari will provide you with a range of customization options. Once you decide which you prefer, Kari will send you digital proofs for your approval. When we receive your approval, we will complete the customization to your specifications and notify you by email or phone when your gift is complete. If this is a personal gift, you can arrange a pickup time with Marj. If this is a corporate gift, you have the choice of picking the gift up or having it delivered. You can add a giftwrap or basket wrap as well.
Although we view the process as a collaborative effort, the bottom line is that you make all the decisions and we take care of all the details, freeing up valuable time and focus for you. Our goal is the same - to provide the most memorable custom gift possible for your recipient that will be treasured for years to come.
What are my customization options and why do prices vary so much? Customization can be as simple as adding a name or monogram to a gift, but the way in which you do that can vary quite a bit. You could engrave it. You could use a color vinyl or patterned vinyl. You could use wood, or acrylic, or sublimated hardboard. And you can combine any of these into something completely unique and unusual.
Each of the options above require Kari to design it and set it up for the proper machinery, and then Marj to execute the choice or application. So the time commitment ranges from a few minutes up to hours or even days in cases where layers or coats have to dry and cure before other layers or mediums can be applied.
And we are still only as far as a monogram.
Now imagine creating a gift, or piece of the gift, completely from scratch. Again this could take from a few minutes to days.
Customization quotes are based on material costs, design complexity and application requirements. This is why your budget becomes important. We want to offer the most personal and stunning customization for the most reasonable price. We all have the same goal - that the recipient receives a truly thoughtful gift that will be remembered and cherished for years.
We offer base prices on the website, and then offer you a range of customization options from simple to extravagant. So, in a very real sense, you control the final price of your gift. Any customization option you choose will make an ordinary gift extraordinary, so there's really no wrong choice - just a range of right ones.
What do you mean by Concierge Gift Service? When staying in a quality hotel, concierge service will help you with directions, meal recommendations, show tickets and other referrals as requested. At Evergreen Engraving, we strive to assist you with the gifting process from beginning to end. From first contact, we try to get a sense of your event, your budget and the message you are trying to send your recipient. We gather up several options and present these to you either through a detailed email or with our Traveling Showroom. Once you choose your gift, we provide customization options and apply your choice to the gift. We can then provide gift wrapping, basket wrapping and even delivery. So the idea is that you can take care of all of your gifting needs from the comfort of your office, or even your phone! Aside from making a few selections, you can entrust us with all the steps in creating the perfect custom gift.
How big a company is Evergreen Engraving and Custom Gifts? We are a small, family-owned and operated business comprised of two employees. Kari (a.k.a. "The Little Sister") navigates all the software of our machinery and does all the digital design work. Marj (a.k.a. "The Big Sister") operates the equipment and applies customization options. Together, we create designs, network in the Wichita business community, market ourselves and build client relations.
Do you have a store? What is the Traveling Showroom? Although a brick and mortar location is one of our top goals, we currently do not have a storefront. But as a small and growing business it's important that we are fiscally responsible. Many great companies have risen from humble beginnings, and we hope to be one of them! In the meantime, we offer you other ways to view our gifts prior to purchasing and customizing. You are always welcome to schedule a time to visit our offices in Marj's home and check out samples of our gift items. If you are a corporate client, you can also request a visit from our Traveling Showroom where we bring samples directly to you. We can do a presentation to a large group or just an individual, say the HR Director or event planner. We welcome opportunities to present our gifts and share our samples with you!
Can I see a sample? In most cases, the answer is yes. If there is a gift item you see on our website, we normally have a sample in stock that we are happy to show you. Often we can show you samples of the type of customization you are requesting. If it is a custom creation from scratch, we may be able to show you samples of similar work. Whenever possible, we will accommodate your requests.
What are your hours? Generally speaking, our business hours are Monday - Friday from 8am - 6pm. Because we are small, we wear all company hats, so it's not uncommon for us to be out delivering gifts or networking. This is why we encourage you to schedule a specific time for pick-ups and drop-offs. We would hate for you to make a trip, only to find we are not available. How much are design/set-up fees? Many factors can influence the design/set-up fee. Every machine we use - laser, vinyl and sublimation - requires that a digital file be sent to it that tells the machine what task to complete. If you choose a graphic from our Engraving Graphics Library and wanted that same graphic engraved on 20 Yeti tumblers, Kari can set that up fairly quickly. She only has to do the job once and it can be sent to the machine many times. If you add a different name to each of the tumblers, she now has to make a new digital file for each tumbler to be sent to the machine. If each tumbler has a different design and different name, this again will take even more time. You get the general idea here. The more time it takes Kari, the higher the cost - it's only fair that we are compensated for design/set-up time.
Alternatively, if you want 50 identical cutting boards engraved, it would be unfair to charge you a design fee for each board. So, on multiples, we can often charge a one-time fee. This is only fair to the client.
Design/set-up fees generally start around $7.00. The normal range is $7-$35, but complexity of graphic can influence the cost. We will always provide a quote prior to the work being done - our pricing and invoices are clear and transparent. We can't imagine doing business any other way.
