I was one of those moms who volunteered for everything and my son, we will call him Sebastian (after a puppy we both fell in love with), played sports year-round - so there was always some fundraiser, dinner, etc. going on. In short, I devoted the last 18 years to a feeble attempt at Super Mom, and knew that chapter of my life would soon be closing.
My friend, we will call her Zena the Warrior Princess, owns a retail shop and I begged a part-time position with her until I figured out my next move. Now Zena is super smart and her brain never shuts down. Her most famous line is "Hey, I have an idea...". And that was the beginning of the end, so to speak. About three impulsive seconds later, I had ordered a laser engraver - one of Zena's "great ideas".
In all fairness, it really did sound like a fantastic idea, with only one or two small hiccups. The laser engraver is run off software, which it turns out, works on a computer. Computers and I are not friends, and software and I are like oil and water. Nevertheless, I figured sooner or later I would figure it out and it would all be okay....
Stay tuned for another episode next week!
